presentation topic: Recent History of Mars exploration and the significance of the Curiosity Lander

“Mars exploration has two historical chapters.  The early days that concluded with the Viking Landers in 1976 and the recent years that started with the failed Mars Observer in 1993 and continues today with successful missions including two Mars Rovers and multiple Orbiters.  The last twenty years have seen a significant focused effort in understanding and exploring Mars with Habitability as a significant goal.  This presentation will discuss the evolution of the objectives and techniques that culminated in the successful landing of the Curiosity Lander.”- Dara Sabahi
